I don't like the changes they made awhile back. You can't find what you are looking for anymore searching the threads. Everything is mashed in the left side of the screen and if gives you to many search results that have nothing to do with what you are looking for.

To a point I agree too.

I like that suggestions pop up before you actually click search. Type in "Bikini" and it'll suggest several likely candidates and for the most part one of them will be what you're looking for.

But there's a glitch when small words like "the", "in" or "to" are typed in after an initial word.

Example: If you're looking for the Rodney Dangerfield movie "Back to School", typing in "Back" by itself brings up several choices beginning with Back, but if you continue on and add the "to" all the choices disappear except for "Abigail Leslie is Back in Town". Quite a strange suggestion. I imagine it tagged on the To in Town. Rather glitch-y.

Typing in the entire title still doesn't bring it up as a suggestion, but when you click search it's the first choice.

Don't forget to chose the search criteria beforehand. That cuts down on the clutter responses.

I still wish responses came in just title form, without partial reviews visible. It would cut down on sifting thru pages and pages looking for the right title.

Exploring the search feature some more, I figured out how to go around the glitch I mentioned above.

It appears uncapitalized words within titles aren't detected by the search function, so, using the Back to School example, typing in "back" alone brings up suggestions, but "back to" doesn't, putting both "back" and "school" brings it up.

And just to clarify, you don't need to capitalize as you're entering your search words.

So if you're looking for Do or Die just enter both "do" and "die" without the "or" and it'll pop up.

This method eliminates the need to actually click SEARCH about 90% of the time.

Unfortunately, the native search the forum provides is honestly built for lower-end forums. We run a pretty decent machine here, and still the search just can't handle the amount of threads. We don't prune forums, we basically keep everything.

However, we have been toying with the search and possibly have new features / fixes on the way.

We do know the search can act pretty "weird" sometimes, we are aware and are working on it.

I think most of the issues have been solved. We've placed the search a bit more"giving" in the sense of punctuation and such. Previously, a name "T.J. Hart" wouldn't show up due to the "." -- this all seems to be solved.

We have much more to do, but its the stable version we have available so far. :) Happy searching

Is there a way to search for a particular post or author within a thread? I see ways to narrow the search down to a forum, but not an actual thread.

Suggestion:
Is your phpBB software up to date?
The bottom line on every page indicates it's last updated in 2007.
I do realize that it cost some serous money to up date. Don't you make enough money to update?
I believe based upon other forums I use that if you updated to phpBB Group 2012 the search function would be greatly improved.
Anyone else have an opinion (like maybe someone who runs their own Bulletin Board)

The phpBB isn't actually that much out of date. The copyrights are only from the template and don't reflect which version(s) we actually run.

Then why is their so much more search on other forums? Please add the ability to limit the search by sub-forum and time. I notice these two functions on many other forums.
