Following the example of Tyranoid and his Space Adventure Cobra game, I'm doing an episode-by-episode breakdown of "Queen's Blade" - an anime focused around sex and violence.

Well, a borderline R rated sex and violence teasing a lot without delivering that much beyond some suggestive lesbian flirting, nudity here and there and a lot of bloodless and nearly death free fighting. Fanservice, in a word.

The first episode starts with the heroine - a naive princess / wannabe warrior maid en route to the "Queen's Blade" fighting tournament. (spoilers - it will take our heroines all of the first season to get to the actual tournament)

She runs into the disturbingly cutesy shapeshifting assassin. Melona / Merona first mistakes her for her more warrior-like sister...

Come night time, the princess is safely (?) back in her palace. But Melona has followed her there...

In the second chapter we're introduced to our other protagonist - Tomoe the warrior monk maid.

Her monastery is attacked by enemy ninja.


Her fellow disciples help defeat them, but as the ninja drop, they transform into...

A giant frog. Really. Complete with hentai elements and all. Still, the frog is decidedly deadly, and Tomoe seems outmatched...

Meanwhile, a friendly ninja girl has a single stroke battle with the enemy ninja leader.

And here is Echidna. A mercenary rather than a true villainess, she harbors a predatory lesbian attachment to Reina.

She's hired to bring Reina in and dissuade her from the career of a warrior.

She observes as Reina attempts to train her warrior skills


by beating on nameless (yet sexy) mooks in the traditional sport of oil/mud wrestling.

Then she takes on Reina herself. She beats her down

Then kicks the crowd out to continue the match in private, at her leisure.

The next chapter features her reporting to her employer as Reina struggles with her defeat.

Apparently the humiliation wasn't strong enough to stop Reina from wandering around deserted pyramids

Melona comes along, hoping to get some payback, but the faux-Pharaoh has other plans.


Melona taunts her with visions from the past


and is promptly kicked out

It appears to Menace (the Pharaoh) trusted her lover a bit too much, which led to betrayal and the destruction of her kingdom.

The next baddie we meet is the Maid of Temptation, Airi. Possibly the nastiest of the evil babes introduced so far, she has quasi-vampiric power draining skills complete with (how not, in this series) lesbian overtones.



She's introduced devastating an Elven forest and being confronted by a young Elf warrior

We start the episode with all three bad girls we met so far (Echidnae doesn't count) being united by one common purpose:

Oh, and discussing their plans for finding and getting even with that annoying Reina wench. Luckily for them, Nanael, the Queen's Blade tournament announcer has been eavesdropping, and is willing to exchange information.

Reina travels to meet Cattleya, the sword-smith well known for her giant boobs... err, weapon making skills. Echidnae is well ahead of her, perving on Cat's kid and scaring off a would be challenge with her panties... err, snake.

Reina was never a good warrior, but she's nothing if no persistent, and eventually she scores a hit that qualifies as anime-speak for "she's really badass now that she trained for nearly a day".

Now Reina is certifiably badass, and having reunited with all the other protagonists, heads off to the city where the Queen's Blade tournament is held. But just as they're about to enter:

The other two baddies escape as the heroines deal with a giant Power Rangers style monster (though if the PR's ever fought monsters that interesting I'd still be watching the show)
