Sometimes when I start browsing CNDB, a pop-up ad for Mr Skin will appear. I have no objection to that.

But the pop-up page includes a video which auto-starts. And if my speakers aren't turned off, a woman who gets penetrated in the first second or two lets everyone know vociferously how much she is enjoying it.

This ad would be a lot friendlier if the video did not start automatically.

At least the volume should be turned down. Some people on this type of site prefer a little discretion.

To be fair, I have had political and other ads do the same thing, on perfectly mundane sites, so it ain't just Mr.Skin. I despise those ads just as much.

It's a shame I don't have a sound card on my shitty computer right now. I enjoy seeing Halle Berry getting worked over though. I don't mind pop ups, as long as they are entertaining and not that stupid annoying LiveJasmin one.

The ad is to punish you for not signing in. I'm not even joking. If you sign in within 30 seconds the ad will not come up.

By the way, they are going to delete this thread. They don't want people to see how many complaints they get about that dickish popup.

Wouldn't you hate to be the schmuck who has to come here and hide the complaints to keep it a secret that they make that screaming porn popup come up to make people log in?

The admin even admitted that they like that pop-up cause it makes people log in and/or sign up for Mr. Skin.

I wish Mr. Skin had never bought out CNDB. They completely ruined a good thing.

You know very well that we don't delete any complaints and/or suggestions. If we did, this thread would have already been removed a long time ago -- in fact there wouldn't be a "Suggestion Box." We welcome any, and all, comments/questions/concerns/suggestions about CNdb or the forum. Many of the suggestions are implemented and all are taken into consideration.

Please show me where any admin has stated this... Making false statements against CNdb Staff is a quick way to a few warnings. This board and website is built on the freedom to review, share, and comment. We have few rules to abide by, but other than that -- we don't delete. There is actually a process we need to go through to delete.

There are benefits to becoming a CNdb Member, yes. There are ALWAYS benefits to any website when you register. Who doesn't like benefits?

-----------------------------

We already have a post about this in the suggestion box. The thread to comment on is here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=33470

If you have a technical issue with the advertisements, you may continue to use this thread. If not, please use the suggestion box.

Regarding the thread in the suggestion box, quick overview (in case you don't want to read) is we changed the way it works a bit. When you login, you receive a long-duration cookie that will not give you the pop up for "X" time.

Okay, I was wrong that the previous stuff got deleted. It was in the "Suggestions" forum. Don't know if it was moved there. Here is your quote:

I generally do get pop-up's (once). I never ever want to hear sound! Explicit X-rated forget it! I use to be watching a show on the flat screen (tv, netflix, movie) and then quickly go to the site on my iPad to see if an actress had done nude scenes. Not any more unless I'm the only one in the room and have turned off the sound on the iPad (although many times Safar would crash! I wonder how many of your regular users decreased their use of your site due to the pop-ups? Also I would not log in generally. The rare times I did log in to your site on a iPad was through the Lastpass browser app (pain in the but; but private) and I'm home alone!
Are these pop-up's worth it? I know I have reduced the amount of time I spend at your site. You might want to just advertise links to gadgets since most of your users are tech literate. (assuming you can find a Ad company willing to place clean Ad's on this site).

Here's the point:

cndb.com is not a porn video website. People do not go to cndb.com to watch porn videos.

It is inappropriate to have an ad that features explicit porn with incredibly loud screaming sex pop up unexpectedly while browsing a 95% text website.

While I agree pop ups are usually annoying, the market it targets is pretty dead on. We are working on (and always will be) providing the best experience possible when visiting CNdb. Due to the changes, updates, and experience we've been working on -- there has been a giant leap forward in traffic and retention rates.

In any case, we are always concerned with our users experience -- so if anyone feels the urge to voice opinions, we welcome it with open arms.

Still don't see "The admin even admitted that they like that pop-up cause it makes people log in and/or sign up for Mr. Skin." :?

All that was stated there was the market it targets is dead on -- and CNdb membership & retention has been climbing since all of our changes to the website/forum. Possibly a mis-read on your part?

The cookie isn't working then, because I got it two days in a row.

The background on when the pop-up will appear, and what triggers it, is interesting. But the discussion seems to have veered away from my original point: The video is most definitely NSFW. It is x-rated hardcore stuff. And the audio could be quite embarrassing. Therefore, it would be much better if the video did not auto-start.

I agree with OP, popups are fine, everyone has to make a buck, but I think its totally a dick move to have it pop up at such a loud volume.

It is indeed too fucking loud, and just logging into CNDb the other morning sparked a really uncomfortable conversation with the other person in the hotel room. She was not impressed.
