Search deosn't appear to be working

I searched for a randomn actress and it garnered zero results which was fair enough, but just to make sure it was working I then serached for KIm Basinger and Sharon Stone, both of which also came up with absolutely nothing which I know for a fact is wrong. Am I doing something wrong or is it broken?

Unfortunately it was fixed for long. I just tried it and I got nothing. Then I used the names of actors I knew to be in here (Michael Douglas, Mel Gibson) just to test it, and got nothing.

sigh... we had a little hiccup in the tech world. Temp fix is in place, however not in the office -- but will look into this further on Monday

The search function has been problematic for so long, and it practically shuts down additions. I appreciate you getting it fixed temporarily.

I managed to add a movie title and an actor's name, but I could not connect the two via the search.

Forum posts once again aren't showing up in search results.

Yes they are

Use the filter and it'll show up to the top. We have the forum marked lower than normal pages.

well when I use the search the filter doesn't show up, hence the problem. Just automatically goes to the actresse's review page on the main part of the website.

Okay, think I worked it out... no forum posts are showing up because there *are* no forum posts for this particular actress. But she does have a page on the reviews section. But the filter doesn't show up at all which led me to believe something wasn't working right. Perhaps it would be better if the filter was always there and if you select forum posts and there are none, it just says that none of available. to avoid any confusion? Thanks anyway.

Ahh, if search gets directed to a page (any page for that matter) then that means there was only 1 result found.

I am trying to add Sam Harris to the film '2:37'. Sam Harris is findable using the yellow 'search cndb' button, but the search function to add an actor/actress to a film just brings up a list of people with similar names - but *not* Sam Harris! I've reported this to the webmaster, and via the 'report' option on the '2:37' page, but no reply yet - you are my last, best hope!

Now that is an interesting bug! It seems that both "Sam" and "2:37" are 'too short' to be applied to the search ... so basically it is removing it from the search.

I did a quick fix so that you can accomplish this task -- Search for "harris" -- I lowered the character requirement, but it will show funny results sometimes with such a low requirement.

But in any case -- I just searched for "Harris" and Sam is near the bottom of the list

Hope this helps for now. We'll have a larger update coming soon and should resolve this issue in a permanent sense.
